Campaign For
Comprehensive Social Housing

Scales of Justice

It is time that the government made a concerted effort to promote social housing. The impending collapse of the housing market will result in inadequate housing and homelessness because the government has failed to provide and has stigmatised social housing.

Social housing can and should be promoted through the following campaign and actions:

Campaign for Comprehensive Social Housing

1. The instigation of fair rent legislation across the private sector.

2. The de-stigmatisation of social housing by the government, local autorities and the media.

3. Further increases in the amount of social housing being built.

4. A reformed system that enables people to move freely for then purpose of employment, with priority for key workers.

5. Outlawing buy-to-let, a system that vastly over inflates the price of properties.

6. Outlawing profit only, insecure provision.

7. Re-introducing panels to interview families who apply for social housing.

8. Discouragement of the false and politically motivated association between property ownership and class.
